Build Your Brand

There are many ways to build your company's presence on campus beyond the traditional presentations, job fairs, and interviews. Several options are detailed below, and our relationship management team would be happy to work with you to devise a plan appropriate for your firm.

Corporate Profile Survey

The Corporate Profile Survey helps students gain insight into your firm's policies, preferences, and recruiting styles. The questions are drawn from those our students most frequently ask our staff. The survey gives your organization wide exposure to our students, who access the surveys almost 300 times per month during the recruiting season. Please complete the survey even if you are not recruiting on campus this year.

Mailfoldering

Each student has a mailfolder that serves as a campus mailbox. You may advertise your events by distributing flyers via these mailfolders, or you may advertise electronically via the student groups. There is a fee for each mailfoldering request. To ensure timely delivery, we strongly recommend that you send materials at least one week in advance. Please send 625 copies per class. Fees for distribution are $100 for one class and $175 for both first and second-year classes. Since space is limited and because our students are becoming increasingly concerned about the environment, we encourage you to consider mailfoldering alternatives and we cannot accept pieces larger than 8 ½ x 11 inches or more than five pages in length.

Send materials for mailfoldering to:

Please label materials "For Mailfoldering" and specify your target audience (1Y, 2Y, both classes).

Advertising in Chicago Business

You can capture students' attention with an ad in Chicago Business, the widely-read student newspaper. The paper is published biweekly in the fall, winter, and spring quarters. For information, contact Iday Shanawaz, Advertising Manager.

Chicago Career Catalyst Articles

Career Services publishes The Chicago Career Catalyst throughout the academic year. Among articles relevant to companies' recruiting efforts are the Alumni Interviews section, focusing on alumni career paths, and Corporate Spotlights, overviews of companies and company programs. Alumni may volunteer to be interviewed or coauthor an article with staff on career options in their firm or industry.

Working with Student Groups

Chicago GSB students are very active in a wide range of organizations that focus on career interests and professional development. These student groups host conferences, speaker series, mock interviews, lectures, panel discussions, and many other activities. Several groups organize treks to various cities to explore opportunities in specific industries or regions.

Working with these student groups can be a valuable resource to enhance your campus visibility and recruiting efforts. We encourage you to contact relevant student groups to find out how your company can get involved with group activities and build relationships with talented students.

Industry Immersion

Industry Immersion is a day-long conference for all first-year MBAs. The conference includes two types of sessions.  Industry overviews feature individual speakers with significant work experience and provide an introduction to an industry or job function.  Panels provide insight into various organizational roles or job functions.

Meet-n-Greets

Another way to get to know students is to host a "meet-n-greet" session. Recruiters converse with students who drop in with informal questions about the company. Typically firms schedule meet-n-greets the day of or day following a presentation. To request a meet-n-greet, contact your firm's relationship manager.

Pre-Interview Nights

Companies use pre-interview nights as an opportunity to meet the students they will be interviewing the following day. They allow an opportunity for informal interaction and for students to ask questions. These events may be held at Chicago GSB, in other university buildings, or at local restaurants.

Materials in the Career Resource Center

For many students, the Career Resource Center (CRC) is the starting point for their career search. Last year we received more than 40,000 requests to access company literature and career management materials. CRC staff maintains company files for student research; we welcome submissions of corporate literature, press releases, and videotapes for your firm's file. We also maintain a supply of giveaway materials.
